Meet Your Coach, Pastor Lo
My journey as a coach didn't begin with a certification or a job title—it began with a heart for serving others.
At just 11 years old, growing up in Oakland, California, I was chosen to mentor younger students. Long before I understood what leadership truly meant, I found myself encouraging others, helping them grow, and stepping up whenever someone needed guidance. Looking back, those moments were the first signs of a purpose that would continue to unfold throughout my life.
Whether in school, on athletic teams, in the workplace, or within my community, leadership became less about holding a position and more about making a difference in people's lives. In 1993, when I gave my life to Christ, that purpose became even clearer. I realized I wasn't called simply to achieve success—I was called to serve.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of serving as a Deacon, Elder, Men's Ministry Leader, and Associate Pastor. Each role strengthened my passion for investing in people, but one experience changed everything.
As a football coach, I worked with a team of young men who had spent years doubting themselves. The previous season had ended with just one win, and the playoffs felt like a distant dream. Together, we built discipline, accountability, belief, and brotherhood. That season, we earned a place in the championship game.
Although we didn't bring home the trophy, we walked away with something far more valuable.
I watched young men discover confidence they never knew they had. I saw them believe in themselves, lead one another, and realize they were capable of more than they had imagined.
That experience affirmed what God had been preparing me for all along.
